IAA Conference Dublin October 2016

This years IAA Conference will be a one day event on Saturday the 08th of October 2016 in the Clayton Airport Hotel Dublin (formerly Bewley’s Dublin Airport Hotel).

The Conference theme for this year is predominantly Middle Ear Implants. This is presently a very topical area as it becomes another management option being offered to clients deemed medically unsuitable for more conventional assistive devices. The IAA is privileged to have secured such high profile speakers as Prof. Ad Snik, Dr. Padraig Kitterick and Mr. Stephen Kieran to date, all specialists in their respective fields of expertise. The programme should have appeal to those working both within the Adult &/or Paediatric services.

The Conference is open to ALL professionals working in the following areas:

  • Audiologists
  • ENT Consultants, Registrars, SHOs, Interns
  • Paediatricians
  • Visiting Teachers of the Deaf
  • Speech and Language Therapists
  • Public Health Nurses

and other professionals besides who encounter clients presenting with aforementioned conditions.

There will be CPD points awarded for full day attendance.                                                                                                                                                                        Ms. Monica Fitzpatrick CPD Officer assigned to Audiology will also present a talk on the day to enlighten Audiologists as to their CPD requirements and the CPD programme in general such as how to gain points, accredited learning activities and reflective practice.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                               It is everyone’s responsibility to ensure they provide their own disciplines means of CPD recording for stamping on the day and to determine how many CPD points their accrediting body will award for attendance.

Exhibitors have again this year been invited to display and demonstrate and already a lot of interest is being expressed to attend.

Non-IAA members = €100                                                                                                                                                                                                                          The fee must be paid in full in advance of the Conference and is non-refundable. The IAA AGM will be held at the end of the Conference. Further details to follow. A presentation outlining IAA website developments to improve member experience will also be included.

First refusal will be given to Audiologists who confirm their attendance by the closing date of Friday the 26th of August 2016. 

I will also circulate finalised details of the Agenda and speakers for the day closer to the time.

There will be a pre-Conference dinner on the Friday night the 07th in the Brasserie Restaurant of the Clayton Airport Hotel, Dublin at 8.00p.m. at a set rate of €25. All delegates are welcome to attend. Please inform me of your intention as the hotel require a reservation in advance however it will be necessary for you to settle directly with the hotel on the night.

A preferential accommodation rate of €109 per person single occupancy is secured on a limited number of rooms in the Clayton Airport Hotel on a B&B basis. Reservations should be made direct with the hotel quoting the IAA Conference when booking in order to avail of this preferential rate.
